Dear PCS Members,
Our cultural show, “Kulturang Pilipino: Noon at Ngayon”, was successfully held last Friday, 24 June 2011 at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Consulate, with a pre-show cocktail at the lobby.
We presented the evolution of our culture then and now, showing its distinct and colourful character with the influences of our neighbouring Asian countries and our main colonizers Spain and USA, and the impact of the modern world. Here are some pictures taken and compiled by Shirly Ang and Romainne Luis. Also attached is the programme, with the content of the show and the list of performers and production staff. The event leader was Margie Ferrer Baccay.
Once again, I would like to thank our members and some of our friends who shared their talent and time for helping us promote interest in the Philippine culture and arts in the UN system. Those who were unable to see the show, I hope you will enjoy viewing the photos.
The next PCS event is the Dinner Dance on 5 August. This is a fund-raising event by Friends of the PCS as we do need funds (in addition to the membership fees) in order to carry out our mandate.
We hope you will continue to support us. Please contact our VP Emma Dumalag (the Dinner Dance Event Leader) at firstname.lastname@example.org regarding the purchase of tickets.
Thanks and warm regards,
